Caring for the suffering and dying of the world







The Little Company of Mary sisters were founded by Mary Potter and takes its name and spiritual model from the “little company” that stood with Mary at the foot of the cross of Calvary.
The Little Company of Mary sisters are called to be Mary’s companions, one with her in mind and heart, at the foot of the cross. We spend our lives caring for the suffering and dying of our world and are devoted to prayer.
The charism or spirit of the Little Company of Mary draws its members to follow the inspiration of Jesus’ total self-giving by responding generously to the challenges presented by our mission. We are women who make visible Jesus healing love by our prayer, our presence, and our compassion and care for those around us, particularly those in need and especially the sick and dying.
Through our works we are called to show the tender mercy of God, the healing presence of Jesus and the maternal love of Mary.

The Little Company of Mary is a Marian Congregation devoted to prayer and care for the suffering and dying of our world. On April 28 Sister Justina Comeskey LCM celebrated the Diamond Jubilee of her Religious Profession at the Mary Potter Community Centre in Christchurch.
